Dhoom 3 (2013)

Hits: Katrina Kaif is extremely hot (although a personification of the song "You say it best when you say nothing at all"), Choreography is excellent, Chicago looks gorgeous.

Misses: The main twist in the plot is inspired from The Prestige (of course after a drop in IQ of two standard deviations). If you have seen that movie, you will probably sulk after the intermission. Uday Chopra has displayed more facial expressions than Aamir Khan and Abhishek Bachchan - now you know.

Overall: If you don't know the twist, you would probably enjoy watching it once. Katrina Kaif is an eye candy, so is Chicago. That's just about it.

Despicable Me 2

Hits: Not a dull moment. The minions show more emotions than Zayed Khan. Great voice-overs coupled with a fun story and peppy animation.

Misses: It’s an animation movie. Old man, you are too cynical to like it.

Overall: A fitting sequel to an awesome first movie.  Plus there’s an enigmatic villain to fight against and a girl to woo.

Midnight in Paris

Hits: Wonderful acting. Screenplay is beautiful and captures Paris across many eras magnificently.

Misses: Might be too artistic (read slow) for your taste.

Overall: Heartwarming. Shot beautifully, emotes in a subtle manner. Makes you think about love, emotion and the human tendency to think that a hypothetical golden era ever existed in reality.

Black Swan

Hits: Everything. The direction, the acting, the screenplay – all top-notch. And then there is a scene where the two leading ladies make out.

Misses: None. It just may be a bit too dark (and at times, gory) movie for some.

Overall: Every once in a while you watch a movie that just leaves you in awe, shell shocked. This is that movie. Go watch it. And then watch again. Superb.

Chennai Express

Hits: Beautiful locations. Few well timed one-liners, fewer funny scenes.

Misses: Paper thin plot. I might just start copy-pasting that for Bollywood movies.

Overall: It’s not a bad movie, has its moments. My only problem is that it’s mediocre. Even after being an ardent SRK fan, I am sad this movie beat 3 Idiots (which was a much better movie) to become the highest grossing Indian movie.
